Washington Street Condominiums

Somerville, MA

A new four-story, 22,500 SF building located on Washington Street in Somerville, this project provides fourteen 1,200 SF residential lofts and 2,000 SF of ground floor commercial space.  In a period of accelerated growth, this development was the focus of an extensive review by the Planning Board and concerned neighborhood groups.  The approved design was of particular interest for the precedent it was expected to set for further development along the Washington Street Corridor at the border between Cambridge and Somerville.  

The exterior facades have been articulated to reflect the scale of nearby residential buildings, and a set-back fourth floor reduces the perceived scale of the building.  Each residential unit has a spacious open floor area organized around a functional plumbing and utility core.
