Concord Town House Improvements
Concord, MA
Originally built in 1851 and located on the town common in historic Monument Square, the Concord Town House provides offices for the Town Manager and various other town departments. Meeting rooms in the building are used by the Town Selectmen and for numerous public events and ceremonies. Under the leadership of PRA Architects, renovations were completed which included the replacement of the existing heating system, installation of a new central air conditioning system, and related improvements and upgrades to offices and public spaces.
Ultimately, a new cost-effective central heating and cooling system utilizing remotely-located, architecturally screened, and sound-isolated conventional equipment and systems was installed with minimal impact on the historic character of the building and surrounding context. Construction was carefully staged and coordinated around the building’s occupants, neighbors, and adjacent Monument Square activities.
