Parker Hill Library Renovation

Parker Hill Library Renovation

Boston, MA

Built in 1930 and designed by the Boston firm of Cram and Ferguson, Parker Hill Library, a branch of the Boston Public Library system, had undergone only minor renovations since built. The original limestone, cast stone, slate roof, and interior millwork remained intact but was in need of repairs. The scope of renovations managed by PRA Architects included envelope repairs, interior alterations, renovations to the basement Community Room, a complete upgrade of the building’s HVAC system, and numerous accessibility improvements into and throughout the building, including a historically compatible 5% exterior walkway and an interior LULA elevator to traverse floors.
