40 Bow Street Renovation

40 Bow Street Renovation

Private Developer

Cambridge, MA

Originally built in 1880, 40 Bow Street is a contributing structure in the Harvard Square Cambridge Historic District. The project involved the painstaking restoration and repair of the building's historic architectural detailing, much of which was either non-existent, severely compromised or buried beneath vinyl siding.  PRA also led the renovation of the interior to provide three levels of market-rate rental housing. The units offer a sleek, contemporary design and meet current expectations for energy efficiency and comfort. The mixed-use building also underwent extensive upgrades to the ground floor and basement to support future restaurant or retail tenancies in the historic storefront in this highly visible section of Harvard Square.
