Park Manor Central
Babson College
Babson Park, MA
Built in 1925, Park Manor Central is one of Babson College’s original buildings. While it helped establish the college’s architectural identity, its advanced age necessitated a complete gut-renovation to bring the building up to the University’s modern standards for student comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability while preserving the building’s historic character.
Upgrades include new spaces for student groups and activities, student lounges on each dormitory floor, full accessibility upgrades comprising a new elevator, bathrooms and entrances, and completely renovated bedrooms and bathrooms on every floor. These renovations are in addition to a new universally accessible landscaped quad and as well as an energy-efficient HVAC system throughout the building. The project also involves the relocation of the building’s existing pub to a new, signature location on campus.
Construction completed and the building opened to students for Fall Semester of 2016 and the project achieved a LEED Silver rating with the USGBC.
