Park Manor South
Babson College
Babson Park, MA
Built in 1925, Park Manor South is Babson College’s original building. While its Neo-Georgian style helped establish the College’s architectural identity, its advanced age necessitated a complete renovation to bring the building up to the expectations of incoming freshmen with regards to student comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability. At the same time it was imperative to preserve the building’s historic character.
Upgrades included the reprogramming of the housing model to be singles, doubles and triples, with common floor bathrooms, and new provisions for shared social and lounge spaces for student interaction. The building and surrounding terrace and quad are now fully accessible. The renovations included an entirely new and energy efficient HVAC system, as well as new life safety systems throughout.
Construction completed in 2016 and the building achieved a LEED Silver rating with the USGBC.
